The Race is On....

Yep, it was that time again. Last Friday night, Kade attended the truck races yet again; however, this wasn't Uncle Jody truck racing. It was the NASCAR Truck races at Texas Motor Speedway.

Kade did so well considering he didn't have a nap at all on Friday. He was so tired during the whole night, but just wouldn't give it up and go to sleep. Everytime we would lay him down to rock, he would pop his little head back up to see what was going on. He was so intrigued with everything going on around him.

He finally gave it up and went to sleep with five laps left to go!

We can't wait to take him to future races with us. Taking him this weekend reminded us so much of the first time we took Kynadi to the races. Makes for some bittersweet memories!

Steak & Tators?

Not quite, but Kade did get his first try at being spoon-fed cereal last night. The flavor of choice was of course bland rice, so definitely not steak & tators! At first he wasn't quite fond of it and didn't know what to think.

I know it is still a bit early to be spoon feeding him according to the doctors (including his own), but I don't think he is getting enough to eat with just the four ounces of formula. He is getting very fussy in between feedings & acts like he is starving. Previously, he was doing well eating 4oz every 4 hours. Now he does good to make it 2 1/2 to 3 hrs on that same 4 ounces, so hopefully this will help.

We had to wash the cereal down with a drink of milk after every few bites, but all in all he did really well. He even cleaned his bowl on the first try of it! I must say he is like his daddy in that aspect!

Playdate...

Last Thursday Kade had his very first playdate!

Our AC unit decided to give out last Thursday night, so some friends of mine (Joey & Kelly) came to our rescue! Joey worked on the AC while Kade and I visited with Kelly and their little boy Kolton. It was so cute to see the boys just sit and look at each other. Each of them had no clue what was going on.  It's so funny how much they look alike; even Justin was confused when he walked in the door.

Poor little Kolton!
(No, Kade didn't hit him! He raised his arm just as I snapped the pic!)
Kolton is just three weeks younger than Kade. Kelly & I were good friends throughout high school, so we can't wait to see our boys grow up together and hopefully be good friends.

Weekend Away...

(WARNING: LONG POST & PHOTO OVERLOAD)

Memorial Day weekend, the entire family (us, Justin's parents, my parents, & my aunt & uncle) decided to pack up and head out for a last minute camping trip at Lake Navarro Mills. We headed out on Friday morning for the weekend. All I can say is it was quite an experience. I never realized the amount of stuff I had to take not only for Justin & I, but for Kade too until I actually began making the packing lists. The wind was blowing ninety to nothing, the lake waters were so choppy the boat didn't even get put in the water, the campfire didn't ant to stay lit, and Kade did suprisingly well on his first camping trip!

Friday night, Justin wanted to pitch a tent & stay at his parents campsite right on the water instead of in the air conditioned camper with my parents which is what I wanted to do. So, I agreed, but only with the understanding that if Kade didn't sleep well then I was getting up in the middle of the night and we were heading for the air. Needless to say, none of us slept except Kade who slept like a rock. With the high winds & sticky air, all I could think about was this tent collapsing down on our heads from the winds or some varmint getting in our tent since the zipper on our door broke & I had to safety pin it all the way around!

See how the wind was blowing the front of the tent in!
Saturday, Kade & I spent the day in the luxury of an air conditioned camper taking naps & cooking up yummy food after he got too hot outside! Justin on the other hand spent the day with his family getting beat up enjoying the waves of the lake. Later that evening, Terry & Sonja decided to pack up early & head home so Justin & I moved on up to my parents site for the rest of the weekend.

Kade swinging outside! He LOVED it!

Saturday night brought lots of food & fun. Only my family (especially my crazy uncle) would build a huge bonfire campfire while under a burn ban just to make smores! Justin kicked out early for the night & Kade & I were shortly behind him.

Hanging out by the campfire with mommy!

Too much fun for Kade!
Sunday morning we decided to pack on up and head out for home! All in all we had a great weekend camping with family & visiting with friends that came out!
