A couple of weeks ago, Kade had his first tractor ride. Pops got a new (to him) tractor & decided to try it out on our rough driveway. This mommy was just a little nervous about him being on this big thing, but Kade didn't seem to mind one bit!

Paranoia or Just too overprotective?
I've always considered myself a very overprotective mother, even before my sweet Kynadi passed away. I was sooo overprotective of her. I guess you could say at first it was the overprotectiveness (if that's a word) of a first time mother. The overprotectiveness of a woman who didnt' easily become pregnant with their child, but rather one who had to rely on faith and God up above and truly wait it out day after day, month after month. However, as Kynadi grew older, my overprotectiveness didn't lessen at all. I was already overprotective of her before she was ever born. In fact, I told my father in law that I would continue to work in the family business but only if she could come to work with me, otherwise I would stay at home with her because I didn't want to put her in daycare. She never stayed with a true "babysitter," but only with my aunt in Burleson, whom I'm very close too, & even then I was only a whole ten miles down the road. She never spent the night with anyone other than my mom, & even that was not until she was 6 months old. Not to mention she only ever spent a total of 3 nights away from Justin & I in the year she was with us. Heck, she never even rode in the car with anyone other than our parents unless we were in the car with her. That's just the type of parents we were & still are; if our kids couldn't go with us, we didn't go.
Now that Kade is here, I find myself in the same situations all over again. I know that with him the overprotection is to be expected after losing Kynadi, but I myself find it worse than with her. Not to mention, that we have a friend here in town who tragically lost her 1month old son the end of April.
Now, I constantly find myself putting my finger under his nose while he is sleeping "just to make sure" he is still breathing. I find myself waking up from a dead sleep in the middle of the night "just to make sure" he is okay all while he is still sound asleep. Even, Justin will wake up in the middle of the night & ask me "Is Kade okay?" Before the loss of my friend's little boy, I had no problem with letting Kade lay on my chest & sleep while I was awake, but not anymore. I'm paranoid he will cover his face. I've always been one against co-sleeping on the same level, but I had no problem letting Kade lay face up on a pillow next to me (between me & the bassinett) to sleep, but not anymore. I feed him during the night & lay him right back down in his bassinett wide awake (while I hold his paci over the side) to put hisself asleep for fear that something will happen to him.
I've become an absolutely paranoid & super overprotective parent all at the same time. I have this fear that Kade is only safe with Justin & I. He seriously goes EVERYWHERE with me. How will I ever be a "not so protective or paranoid" mother with everything that has happened?

Momma called the doctor....
Our poor little boy hasn't been feeling too well. About two weeks ago he began spitting up profusely. I'm talking ounces at a time. It didn't matter if we burped him after every ounce of formula, if we left him sitting up for 30 minutes after his bottle; it didnt' matter. He may not have spit up right after burping, two hours after finishing his bottle, or not at all. So momma calls the doctor & the doctor said, more than likely he has developed a milk allergy to the regular similac formula eventhough he had no problem with it from the time we were in the hospital until now. So, we switch him to the Similac Sensitive for Spit-up and he begins doing fine again. However, with this new formula he had become extremly constipated since it is not milk based, but is mainly corn syrup based. Well, the doctor didnt' tell me this was a side effect, so I switch him back to half regular formula & half sensitive formula. All was well in the eating department, until this past Saturday (4/30). We were on our way to Houston, he had already eaten, but was still hungry. All I had at the time was 2 oz of regular formula, so I thought what the heck he gets this all the time he will be fine. Boy was I wrong. That began the spit-up marathon yet again! We switched back to the half & half mixture, but this time it didn't help. For two days Kade did nothing but fuss, cry, & want to be held. I felt sooo horrible because I made him sick with that darn 2oz of regular formula! So we call into the doctor's office again on Tuesday. This time they decide to tell me "you should never mix an infant's formula; a child should only be on strickly one kind" and "oh yeah, if it makes his constipated you can give him up to 2oz of pear juice daily." Well thanks for telling me that. If they had told me that to begin with, we wouldn't have been in this situation.
Thank God we are on the road to recovery & have a Happy boy yet again!

Easter 2011
Ok...so I'm behind yet again. It's the story of my life....
We woke up early & drove to Ft. Worth for church with our SUMC church family, but I failed to get a picture of us in our Easter attire before church! After that, it was a madhouse run from one family's house to the other!
Here is a photo run-down of Kade's 1st Easter!
