94 Candles...

The birthday princess 94 years young!
A couple of weekend ago we celebrated my great grandmother's 94th birthday. Yes, 94 Candles...that's how many would have been on her cake had I put them! For the past several (four to be exact,) I have had not only the privelege but the honor of making her birthday cake. Each year, it is one of the most special cakes that I make although always the same....half chocolate, half white, with her favorite color flowers...red. This year, we celebrated once again at the nursing home she resides at with all of her kids and most of the grands, greats, and great greats being there. We always have so much fun chatting away and Grandmother sure enjoys herself.

This year, I told her Happy Birthday to her, and she proceeding to tell me happy birthday as well "just in case she isn't here on my birthday," she said. She said I had to love her because she sure loved my cake...lol.

Also, each year it is tradition to get all of the families together to take pictures. This years birthday picture was a special one for our family because it is also the year that we celebrated her having 2 seperate families with 5 generations! I count myself as blessed beyond measure to know that both of my kids have had the opportunity to know and interact with their great great grandmother.

5 generations x two!

Grandmother's family is also growing by leaps and bounds! From her birthday party we had last year to her birthday party she has this year, she has added 5 new little ones to the brood and all boys at that! We've already got 2 more little ones on the way for December of this year and March of next year!

Happy 6 Months Kade!

To My Favorite Little Boy -

Why must you be six months old already? That is half a year. Why aren't you still the little 9lb baby I was wheeling to the recovery room with at this very time six months ago? Why are you old enough for Mommy and Daddy to even think we aren't far away from your first birthday? I just want to pull the batteries out of all of the clocks and take the dates off of the calendar.

Mommy had to start this blog several weeks ago because this has been a big month for you. I didn't want to forget any of your important milestones. A month that has made mommy realize you are growing up already - too soon for my comfort. I wish I could keep you the size you are right now forever. You are small enough to still need mommy to rock and hold and feed you, but you are big enough to entertain yourself, laugh, and play with all kinds of neat toys! 'Two" seemed to be the magic number for you this month. I can can't wait to see what the next few months bring for you.

Kade's 6 Month Stats:

Weight: 15lbs 15oz (at 5m3wk..your actual 6m check up is not until 6m1wk)

I did allow you to start sleeping against the wall this month.
You have began taking at least one "two" hour nap each day.
You can take a nap just about anywhere.
